Three Reasons You Need a Water Flosser
Do you use a Water Flosser? My guess is that even though you regularly recommend it to your patients, you've either never tried it or tried it a long time ago. How do I know this? Because until I started working for Water Pik, Inc, I was just like you, a master of string floss who didn't think the Water Flosser was for me.
Our patients may not be able to get the knack for high level flossing, but as dental professionals - you can probably use string floss expertly in your sleep. It wasn't until I started using the Water Flosser daily that I discovered I really needed it.
Here is what learned when I started using the Water Flosser on a daily basis
- The Water Flosser will enhance your personal sense of cleanliness compared to string floss. Will your mouth be cleaner than with string floss? Very possibly. On the physical side, the Water Flosser cleans the entire mouth not just the interproximal area like string floss. The fluidity of water means it can more easily clean the col area than less flexible string floss. On the scientific side, the Water Flosser has been shown to remove more plaque than string floss.
- Water Flossing feels good, and that is not to be underestimated. To fully appreciate this, you need to use the Water Flosser daily for a couple of weeks. Then use your string floss. Hands down the Water Flosser is a much more pleasurable experience. And when something feels good, we are much more likely to use it on a regular basis
- Water Flossing regularly will boost your credibility with patients. Imagine what can happen when you say to a patient 'a product that I use and think would be good for you and that you would like is the Water Flosser.' What can be more powerful than wanting to use the product that your dentist or dental hygienist uses?
